About 

​My family and I are based in Alexandria, VA and we love spending our weekends in Colonial Beach, VA.  I'm a Navy veteran and an aerospace and nuclear engineer.  Some of my other hobbies include running, soccer, boating, shark tooth hunting, and jiujitsu.  I recently left the corporate world to spend more time with my family.  Mahjong has given me the opportunity to meet some amazing people, and I look forward to building a community and encouraging others on their Mahjong journeys.

 

My first Mahjong tile set was a birthday gift that I left sitting in a closet for a year because I found the game too difficult to learn on my own.  Luckily, my wonderful friend, Hope Covington (@901bam), is the best mahjong instructor, and she was kind enough to teach me one summer while she was visiting from Tennessee.  I was hooked on the game and my passion for the game continued to grow as my neighbor, Kristine (@bethechange_coach), guided me during our weekly mahjong meet ups.  I soon began to share the game with more friends and family, and realize how fun teaching is.  I am also blessed with the most supportive husband who regularly and graciously agrees to play 2-player American Mahjong with me.
